Avenir Mediterranee – Save Our Seas has long had vessels which it used in the protection of our environment.

We believe Gitana III has the potential to be a flagship worthy of the title. With her rich history in seamanship and impeccable manufacture, she will give our message the elegance it deserves.

At present, she is in poor, but salvageable condition. We intend to bring her back to her glory days and give her a new life with a real purpose. In order for us to accomplish this goal we need funding for the following:

Haul out: Inspection and Planning
Shipyard: Retrofit and Refurbish
Re-Launch: Flagship Vessel of No Plastic Planet and GreenFees

OBJECTIVE: Planetary project of three (+) years (one year working on Gitana III, two (+) years of campaign)

Action

To create “The Dustbin Men of the Sea,” cleaning up coastal zones that have a direct impact on the people who live there, Kuna Yala GreenFees.

Awareness

No Plastic Planet, aboard Gitana III. Campaign for substituting plastic grocery bags with reusable, recyclable sacks and promoting the concept of MerSea Eco Center, the first “House of Environment,” 100% self sustaining, financed by GreenFees and the design and launch of www.pollu.net, a website to be dedicated to gathering and organizing a global database to promote our agenda.

Education

By promoting educational programs for our children Avenir Mediterranee – Save Our Seas will begin to work with local school districts in trying to implement our project “Environment” curriculum courses in school.

Budget $300,000 US per year for 3 years (establishes ten dedicated enterprises)
